Back to the social network scene – I have been using Ping.fm for some time now and find by using it it is very easy to update all my social networking sites from one location.

For those that don’t know Ping.fm is a simple and FREE service that makes updating your social networks very easy.   They support over 40 social networking sites and are adding more all the time.

The site is straight forward and uses posting methods and advanced custom triggers, to make it easy for you to post your messages exactly where you want them to go.  As with all good sites now they have an API that allows developers to integrate the system into their own applications.  In fact I have built a simple web based one that sits on my office server and allows me to update Twitter, Facebook Myspace etc. from just using one single form.  We are now starting to integrate this application into our clients’ web sites and CMS systems.

I will not take credit for the PHP class – it already existed and hey why invent the wheel! but on my application I have included automatic tinyurls, character counting (down from 140 or 118 if you use a tiny url – that’s allowing 22 characters for  http://tinyurl/123456 and a space)
