How To Don Disposable Face Masks: Earloop or Tie On Surgical Masks. by Matt Daniel
Surgical Masks can be extremely beneficial. One may consider using a surgical or dust mask when they are sick, especially if they are coughing or sneezing and they plan on being around other people. Wearing the product will help prevent the user from spreading illness to the people around them.
Its crucial to remember to only use the product one time, and to throw it away after use. Make sure to change it if it becomes moist. If the product has directions, please adhere to them. If the mask doesn’t come with directions the following advice will help you to correctly put on and remove the mask.
Putting the surgical mask on:
Clean your hands. Use soap and water if possible, you could also use hand sanitizer. Do not handle the mask until your hands are clean.
Remove a surgical mask from the box and inspect it for defects. Make sure it is free from tears or holes. Check both sides of the mask.
Determine which side of the mask belongs on top. This is the side with a stiff bendable edge. This edge is meant to form to the shape of your nose.
Determine which side of the mask is the front. The colored side of the mask is usually the front and should face away from you. The side that touches your face is typically white.
Next, if your face mask has ear loops, hold the mask by the loops and place a loop around each ear. If your mask has ties, bring the mask to your nose level and fasten the ties in a bow.
Pinch the stiff edge of the mask to form the shape of your nose.
For masks with ties, tie the bottom ties.
Secure the bottom of the mask over your mouth and chin.
Taking it off:
Again, clean your hands before touching it. Use soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching the front of the product! This part is contaminated. Try to only handle it by touching the ear loops, or ties.
For products with ear loops: Hold both of the ear loops and gently lift to remove the mask. For masks with ties: Untie the top ties first, than the bottom. Pull the mask away from you as the ties are loosened to remove the mask.
Discard of the mask by throwing it in the trash. This is important, never reuse a disposable face mask or forget to dispose of it properly.
Wash your hands. Clean them again with soap and water or hand sterilizer.
